you. me. us. (and a playlist)

This post (and the awesome playlist at the end!) is for you. Maybe we don't know one another, maybe we do. Perhaps we've talked together while coffee mugs steamed in our palms, perhaps we've only 'met' via Instagram. Regardless, I'm writing this for you.

Have you ever paused long enough to ask yourself, "Why am I here?" Ok, wait. I'm not talking about being here on earth as a human, that's a long, post for another day. I'm talking about your presence online. I don't even know if this is something that other people mull over, but it's certainly been turning my mind lately.

Why do I post anything on a public platform? Am I subtly begging for accolades? Am I wrapping my identity too closely to likes and comments and responses? What's the point of all of this anyway?

I'll be honest. It's all to easy for me to praise myself when numbers rise or feel down when they fall. I feel silly and shallow admitting that. (ugh) But because I believe confession brings about restoration, I'm sharing it with you. We have to stop pretending we're perfect. It's all too easy to do that online, and I'm here to fight that. And despite all it's negative connotations, I still believe in using social media as a dynamic tool for good. Through avenues like Instagram, this blog and our email list I have the ability to speak life into others. I've been able to bring joy, uplift hearts and provide an income that allows me to stay home with Behr while working toward realizing life-long dreams for our family. No small thing, right?

Ok, back to the question. Why am I here? (meaning of course, being online). After much thought, I realize that, for me personally, it's simply comes down to this: I am here to serve others, to serve you. I'm here to write words that ignite, empower and soften you. I'm here to craft images that awaken your heart and satisfy your need for personal documentation and daily beauty. I'm here to tell you that God is in love with you. See how much goodness He's placed in this broken world; in your ordinary life? Let me show you.

Now listen, I'm not saying, "Follow me! Hire us! Make sure you read all my blog posts! Subscribe! It's the only (and best) place to fill your life with brightness!" Um...no. Only Jesus can fill that thirst you and I have for true love and right-ness. I wouldn't dare to presume that I have any sort of monopoly on that. So what am I trying to say? Instead of winding on for three more paragraphs let me just share this quote from a treasured book because it perfectly sums up how I feel about my 'social media presence' :

A poet is a man who is glad of something and tries to make other people glad of it too." -George Macdonald, At the Back of the North Wind

That's it. I'm just an introverted woman/wife/mama who loves words + imagery and bolstering your spirit with God's truth. I've discovered when woven together, these things can produce a song that only the soul can understand. And what's more, I believe you and I have a need to discover, share, and enjoy that song together.

So, you're welcome to follow along or hire us to document your precious life . Or...not. I genuinely love having you, but if not, then go with grace! I don't believe in pettiness. We all need to do what's best for ourselves. Just know that we'll still be here collecting and creating beauty to better the lives of those who wish to join us in our holy pursuit of joy. Let's do this together, alright?

And because I'm in love with sharing goodness, here's a happy playlist for your weekend. Find it HERE and let me know what you think once you give it a listen. Please tell me you danced around all crazy while it played like Behr and I did. ;)

I say it all the time but, I'm sincerely happy you're here. Truly. You're just all kinds of amazing.
